As the name suggests, woody perfumes feature scents reminiscent of various types of woods, including Sandalwood, Cedar, Agarwood (also known as Oud), Guaiacwood, and Patchouli. Despite some similarities with the Chypre family, woody fragrances generally lack floral notes. However, perfumers can add spices, fruits, or herbs to create unique woody blends.

Aromatic herbs such as lavender, geranium, basil, cumin, rosemary, and sage give woody aromatic fragrances a fresh, green twist.
